Case Study — Review Report For Nova Scotia Website

A professional website review report for a health website, designed to improve performance and boost profits.

Review Brief

Website: Nova Scotia Health

1

Your logo is nice, but on mobiles it becomes a tiny logo, which makes a bad impression. This is a design mistake that must be fixed.

2

Take off the 'home' link from the menu. Today's standard is to use the business name/logo as the home link.

3

On the desktop version, the top-right area is too messy. Move the social media icons to the bottom of the page and take off the extra button on top — you already have one under the main headline.

4

The navigation menu is too basic. It doesn't make a good impression. You should consider adding a few more links.

5

'YOUR IP JOURNEY STARTS TODAY' — this is a very generic headline. New visitors won't understand what you mean. The term 'journey' is overused. Look for something more original, including a subheader. Don't use all capital letters phrasing!

6

The slider that follows is not a good idea. Sliders slow down pages (Google score: 36/100). Users on desktops have to click left/right arrows — bad usability practice. Replace with cards: 2 rows of three cards each.

7

'...and discovery activities such as... lead to inventions and discoveries.' The 'Discovery leads to discoveries' phrasing should be reconsidered.

8

The extensive use of stock images may affect your credibility.

9

Before displaying the 6 phases of the process, start with a short opening text. Introduce yourselves, tell people who you are, and explain the main benefits of your services.

10

The about us page shouldn't be the first page on the menu. Users never read about a company before reading first about its offers.

11

The about us page looks too much like a basic Word document.

12

About us pages are like company profile pages — when the business was established, team members, facilities, vision, etc. Part of the text you have doesn't belong to an about us page.

13

In the resources section, don't provide outside links. People who click on outside links may not return even if they intended to.
