Case Study — Review Report For Taltoa Website

A professional website review report for a Freight Broker Training website, designed to improve performance and boost profits.

Review Brief

Website: taltoa.com

1

In general, your content and messages are well-written and clear. But there are two main problems: design and structure.

2

The homepage is not overloaded with heavy graphics, which is fine — but it shouldn't look like a boring Word document either. The top section is overloaded with too much text. New visitors will have to be extremely patient to process so much content, and mobile users will have to scroll extensively.

3

Homepages must start with a relevant, attention-grabbing, high-quality image on top — usually with a powerful headline or statement over it. Your homepage uses a gray background with a headline and bulleted list. The headline is fine, but the bulleted list is not the way to welcome new visitors.

4

Do not use your business name/logo within the page's content area. Your name/logo is part of branding, not part of marketing content.

5

Below the gray area you placed a title that repeats the top headline. This is not only useless, it also makes a bad impression.

6

Below the page title, the list of six groups you serve is essential information, but displaying it as a text line is ineffective. It would be much better as cards or at least a bulleted list near a nice image.

7

Long lines of text on large screens are very inconvenient. Use 2/3 or half the page width, or place the text beside an image.

8

The 'How to become a freight broker' paragraph is probably not a good idea to place on the homepage, and definitely not so high. It's a distraction for visitors who didn't come for this purpose — let them go over the 6 cards first to get the big picture.

9

On the essential training card, don't list features. Focus instead on your professional advantages or the benefits for people who use the training. There's enough space on the respective inner page to display features.

10

Since these are cards on your homepage, use shorter and more focused messages. For example, on the guaranteed placement card: 'Join our mentorship program and start a career as a successful paid freight broker agent. Your best opportunity to grow and build a book of business.'

11

On the office banner, don't use your business logo. You can use your business name, but not as a logo.

12

Don't ask people to subscribe to a newsletter. In our social media era, newsletters are outdated tools that are hardly used anymore.

13

'Your success is our success' is a banal, overused phrase. A Google search shows more than 900,000 exact results. Using such a phrase can do more damage than good — using it as a business slogan below the logo is an even bigger mistake. Fix this ASAP.

14

Take off the 'home' link from the main menu. The standard today is to use the business name/logo as the home link.

15

The marketing link opens a new browser window leading to another website. Many users today block new window popups. It is also considered annoying and confusing.

16

The training packages pages (under 'training and consulting') are EXTREMELY overloaded. I strongly recommend restricting these pages, even if it means splitting them into several sub-pages.
